From the surface, Nina Dobrev looks like the kind of person that has everything it takes to become a great Hollywood action star. She’s beautiful, she’s talented, she’s athletic, and most of all, she’s determined to show people that she’s got what it takes to be an A-list actress. Unfortunately though, things haven’t worked out to Nina’s advantage. Even though she enjoyed several years of success with The Vampire Diaries, she’s been struggling to make the jump from the small screen to the big one.
Then again, there are plenty of young actresses in Hollywood who are in the same position as Nina. But for Nina, she knows that she needs to stand out from the crowd and she’s been doing everything in her power to make her Hollywood career happen. Unfortunately though, Hollywood just isn’t responding. Even though she’s already starred in a handful of films, she’s got almost nothing in the pipeline. For someone like Nina, this is something she’s worried about day and night.
With that being said, here are 15 reasons why Nina Dobrev is being ignored by Hollywood producers. Some you’ll agree on, some you won’t.
15. SHE DOESN’T HAVE NAME RECOGNITION
Sure, a lot of people might recognize Nina Dobrev from her television work like The Vampire Diaries. And yes, we’ve got to give credit where credit is due: she’s got great style as well. But if you are not normally keeping up with the gossip blogs and tabloid magazines, chances are that you don’t know who Nina Dobrev is. And for someone like Nina, that’s a problem. Because not only is she very ambitious, but she’s desperate to make her Hollywood career happen one way or another. But unfortunately, even Nina knows that she has setbacks.
There are certain things that she can do in front of the camera and other things that just come much more difficult for her, no matter what she does or how hard she tries. For example, comedy is just not happening for her.
According to Brainy Quotes, Nina once put it this way: “Comedy is probably a lot harder for me. Maybe it’s because I’ve been doing drama for so long or maybe it’s because… you don’t want to search for a laugh; you can’t try to be funny, you just have to naturally be funny or be in a situation that’s funny.”
14. THE TELEVISION CURSE
A lot of actors and actresses will admit that one of the most difficult things of their career is trying to make the big jump from television work to Hollywood movies. While some manage to succeed, others try their entire lives to make their big screen careers happen. We don’t want to name any names (but totally will), because all you need to do is ask people like Jennifer Aniston or anyone who has ever been on a sitcom before. Once the series ends, their careers are at a standstill.
And unfortunately, for Nina Dobrev, this seems to be the case with her, too. Even though she’s managed to attach her name to a few projects, she’s not getting the recognition that she had initially hoped for. In other words, no one is calling her with new film propositions.
Nina told Interview Magazine, “I only want to keep moving up and up in terms of quality and be careful with perception. I don’t just want to do things that are the pretty girl with lots of makeup, I want to get into the gritty stuff and get down and dirty and dark and really feed my soul and not my vanity.”
